Where hotel guests plant trees

Room Mate Mario is proud to participate in this initiative, which allows us to contribute to environmental sustainability in a tangible and meaningful way. We started recently (3 months ago) and with the sum of each day we have planted 252 trees. This small action not only helps to reduce water and energy consumption, but also supports reforestation efforts and raises awareness among our guests. The feedback has been positive as our guests appreciate being part of a project that goes beyond comfort and really makes a difference.

Joining Hotels for Trees is easy: just hang the tag visibly if you’d like to skip room cleaning. You save time and make a bigger impact: for each skipped service, we plant a tree. This simple gesture leaves an impression and contributes to a greener future. To make a better world, it starts with yourself. That’s why we mention it both at check-in and in the room, to engage our guests. Thanks to Hotels for Trees, we’ve planted over 8,000 trees in three years. More hotels are joining, expanding the reach. We’re proud of our choice and inspire others to follow.

For every day that housekeeping is not used, a tree is planted, and our guests really appreciate that. Many of them say they like being able to contribute to a greener world during their stay. It fits perfectly with our values as a hotel – being more conscious, more sustainable, and creating positive change together.

Our partnership with Hotels for Trees has had a significant impact. For every night a room does not need to be cleaned, a tree is planted. This helps us reduce our ecological footprint and allows us to contribute to a greener future. Our hotel guests have responded enthusiastically. As a result, we have already planted more than 3.500 trees (March 2025). We are proud of this partnership and look forward to creating even more positive change together.

At Pestana Amsterdam Riverside, our partnership with Hotels for Trees since November 2023 has been a resounding success. Over the past 1.5 years, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback from our guests who appreciate the initiative of waiving cleaning services in exchange for planting trees. An impressive 32% of our stayover guests have chosen to plant a tree at least once during their stay, contributing to a healthier planet. This initiative has not only positively influenced our cost structure but also enhanced our guests’ perception of our sustainability efforts. It’s truly a win-win!

Before I started working at the Radisson Hotel & Suites, I was not familiar with Hotels for Trees. I’ve noticed that many of our guests value it, and instead of choosing a drink or points, they are more likely to opt for planting a tree. A few of my colleagues and I also go out to plant the trees ourselves, and we share this with our guests. They really appreciate it, and so far, we’ve already planted 2.496 trees. Personally, I think it’s a fantastic initiative, and we will definitely continue with it!
