At Pestana Amsterdam Riverside, our partnership with Hotels for Trees since November 2023 has been a resounding success. Over the past 1.5 years, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback from our guests who appreciate the initiative of waiving cleaning services in exchange for planting trees. An impressive 32% of our stayover guests have chosen to plant a tree at least once during their stay, contributing to a healthier planet. This initiative has not only positively influenced our cost structure but also enhanced our guests’ perception of our sustainability efforts. It’s truly a win-win!

Since joining the Hotels for Trees initiative late 2022, we’ve seen an annual increase in guest participation. The ease at which our guests can participate and choose to contribute to a greener world is met with great enthusiasm. Resulting now in an average of ~1000 trees planted per month and since joining close to 18.000 trees. Being a Green Globe Platinum Member (certified for ten consecutive years), this initiative is not only a presentation of our own sustainability achievements but also resonates very well with today’s eco-conscious traveller.

Working with Hotels for Trees has transformed our guest experience, guests embrace the program as they genuinely want to make a difference during their stay. The program not only offsets our CO₂ emissions through tree planting, but also reduces emissions directly. Hotels for Trees is key in reaching our ambitious sustainability targets.
