The forest in Munstervallei used to be a tree farm where pesticides were once used.
By planting a new forest, more space for nature is created, pesticides are no longer used and biodiversity is strengthened. The valley exists out of two areas, this new forest will contribute to the ecological connection between these two areas. This will ensure that both plants and animals can easily spread out.
The following trees will be planted here:
- Quercus robur (English oak).
- Betula pubescens (Downy birch).
- Prunus avium (Sweet cherry).
- Alnus glutinosa (Black alder).
- Corylus avellana (Hazel).
- Crataegus laevigata (Hawthorn).
- Frangula alnus (Alder buckthorn).
- Prunus spinosa (Blackthorn).
Local planting partner: Limburgs Landschap Vlaanderen
