The Netherlands – Greening the countryside

Together with Trees for All, we are working on greening the countryside in Friesland, Overijssel and Gelderland. We do this by planting landscape elements such as hedges, rows of trees, pollard willows or wooded banks. In this way we enhance the unique Dutch landscapes and the habitats of countless plants and animals.

Landscape elements are the structures in a landscape, such as hedges, rows of trees, wooded rows or bushes. These trees and hedges give each landscape a unique character. They are also an important source of biodiversity: countless plants and animals find food, a hiding place or space to reproduce there.

In recent years, many landscape elements have disappeared from rural areas. That is why we are committed to restoring trees and hedges in the countryside.
