House
The name Loenen or Loïnen means something like watercourse. Huis Loenen is one of the most beautiful noble houses of the Overbetuwe. It is a hunting lodge, built around 1809 as a successor to a medieval castle. The Loenen house is a rectangular building with a tower on the entrance side. This entrance side is oriented to the north. A simple staircase with a dozen steps leads to the entrance of the first floor, the main floor of the house. The rear of the house faces south and is clearly visible from the Waaldijk.

Middle Ages
Partly on the site of the outbuildings of the current Loenen house, the Loenen castle has stood, presumably since the late Middle Ages. The first castle was probably replaced by a new castle in the fifteenth century. This castle can be seen in the engraving after a drawing by Cornelis Pronk from 1732. It was an impressive, completely moated castle with heavy walls. Several residential buildings had stepped gables. The tower was topped with an onion surmounted by a spire.

4 Bed & Breakfast rooms
The main house houses 4 Bed & Breakfast rooms located on the 1st and 2nd floor.
